Background

Developed with, and honed by the world’s fastest athletes, the story of the adizero range began on 28th September 2008 when the legendary Haile Gebrselassie broke the marathon world record wearing the adios adizero 1. Developed and improved on over time, It has been breaking records on the feet of elite athletes ever since.

Last year alone over half of the adidas athletes in the top 50 elite races won their events, underlining the serious pedigree on show in the range.

A speed obsessed runner, this updated shoe is best kept for race day to get the most out of every mile.

Closer look

Available exclusively in the launch colour of Core Black/Beam Yellow/Solar Green here at Pro:Direct Running, expect this dynamic colourway to be added to in later months.

The main changes to the adios Pro 3 involve the propulsive energy rods in the midsole, and the new, race ready upper. Lightweight, and providing all the support you need on race day, the upper is completely redesigned for the ultimate performance. It also uses at least 50% recycled material in line with adidas’s commitment to help end plastic waste.

Carbon energy rods are sandwiched between two layers of Lightstrike Pro cushioning in the midsole, providing maximum cushioning and energy return. In the last iteration individual rods followed each metatarsal, but a new ENERGYRODS 2.0 construction uses a single structure, for a more harmonious stiffness, that drives you forward and minimises energy loss.

It is finished off with a Continental™ rubber outsole, giving you traction in the wet or dry that lets you take the sharpest corners with confidence.

Conclusion

The adidas adizero adios Pro 3 has a beautiful clarity of purpose, it focuses on half to full marathon distances, and it centres its design around speed.  Tweaks to the carbon rods and the upper are all designed to improve your ride and decrease your times.

Athlete tested, it is designed specifically for breaking records, so lace up a pair and see if they can improve your time.

Ray Barlow

Having suffered from Chronic Fatigue for over a decade, I am a recent convert to the joys of running. Although every run steals a lot of energy, the mental health and fitness benefits more than make up for it. My runs are mainly across the back of the nearby beaches, dodging between the tourists. When not geeking out over the latest running tech, you can find me trying new gins, making gins, or boring anyone within earshot about gin.
