How to run your first or fastest 10km - Coach Says
1 . MAKE A PLAN
Make a plan to kick off your 10k with some intent, speak to running professionals, friends, local run group leaders or research online and come up with a plan to kick it off.
2. BE HONEST
Be honest about what you can commit to. You don’t want to train for something that you can’t keep up with as it will leave you feeling bad about yourself if you can’t follow it.
3. STAY CONSISTENT
Consistency will get you ready for your race or time trial and help you reach your potential. As long as you can keep the flow, you’re ready to go.
4. MIX UP YOUR TRAINING
You might want to include a mixture of speed sessions, tempo runs or slower long runs to build strength and power.
5. LISTEN TO YOUR BODY
If you are feeling tired or achey they the best thing to do is listen to your body and take a rest day if it is required.
