Nike Free Run 4.0 V2 Shoes - Grey/Silver/Black

The Nike Free 4.0 V2 Men's Running Shoe is more flexible than the Nike Free Run+ 3 and more supportive than the Nike Free 3.0, combining the feel of barefoot running with cushioning, traction and underfoot protection.

The asymmetrical lacing system reduces pressure for enhanced comfort. The seamless upper offers lightweight support where you need it. It features a laser-perforated design for a supportive, skin-like fit that moves with each stride. Deep flex grooves along the length and width of the outsole enhance flexibility and help maintain stability for a more natural stride. To dramatically reduce the shoe’s overall weight, the low-profile midsole doubles as an outsole.

A stretchy mesh inner sleeve delivers a sock-like fit that hugs the foot, yet still allows for easy on and off. The minimalistic, molded sockliner mimics the curves of the foot, delivering support and a great fit.

Nike Frees are different than traditional athletic shoes. They’re designed to let your feet move more freely and naturally, which means your muscles will be doing a bit more work than demanded of them in some other athletic shoes. Nike encourages you to get used to them gradually for a safer, more effective and more enjoyable experience.

After learning that Stanford athletes had been training barefoot on the university's golf course, three of Nike's most innovative and creative employees set out to develop a shoe that felt natural and weightless, simulating bare feet. In 2002, they examined a group of men and women with pressure-measuring insoles taped to their feet, using high-speed cameras to capture images of each foot in motion.

The team spent eight years studying the biomechanics of shoeless running. The results yielded a profound understanding of the foot's natural landing angle, pressure and toe position, allowing Nike designers to build an unconventional and flexible running shoe from the inside out.

If you have a regular-high arch, your feet underpronate, which means your ankles either don't roll inwards or don’t roll inwards enoughwhen you run. Normally this movement would help to absorb shock every time your feet strike the ground and, sincethis doesn't happen, you should choose a neutral shoe that encourages your feet to roll in more naturally.
