Charlotte Thompson:
I am Charlotte Thompson, a 37yr old Personal Trainer from Leicestershire. I started running 4 years ago and this year became an 'ultra endurance' runner after completing 5 marathons in 5 days. I trained for my certificate in teaching and have taken a Diploma to become an accredited Personal Trainer in 2006 , I combine my 121 instructing with my own personal training with fund raising for a local hospice for the terminally ill, I have raised in excess of £30k to date with plans to do much more.

In April this year I ran 'five marathons in five days!' this was a personal challenge I set myself after the London Marathon in 2008 with a view to raising even more funds for LOROS. It meant

running from my home on the outskirts of Leicestershire direct to London covering a marathon distance (26.2 miles) every day for 4 consecutive days leading up to the London Marathon on the 5th day, which I ran in a personal best time of 3hrs 52mins. My husband Darren and family travelled with me as my as part of my support team and the Premier Inn Hotels provided me with accommodation during the 5 days, I trained very hard for the challenge and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience, it is something I am very proud of and will be looking to do something similar in 2011.

Running has changed my life, I have established my own business which I manage around my husband and 4 children, I have 16 clients and I am very proud to be able to say that 7 of these have entered for the Leicester 'half and full marathons' on 11th October this year which I will run with them, to help them achieve their personal goals. Running has brought together a network of women who support my fund raising and who work together to make things happen, that is where Saffron came in, again a client who works for NatWest Bank, it was one of our training runs that the idea of organising a fun run in Leicester for our Leicester Charity LOROS was born and and with the help of her contacts and those of her colleague Liz from Business Link, along with Kay and Matt from the Leicester Tigers and Monique from Pro-Direct Sport I am able to launch the 'I do it for LOROS' fun run...this is something I am really passionate and excited about.

Marisa Spiteri:
I am Marisa Spiteri, corporate fund-raiser for LOROS, the Leicestershire and Rutland Hospice and have been so for 3 years. On a daily basis I meet individuals you are willing to go above and beyond and raise money for LOROS because they want to support a local charity and they know what kind a difference LOROS makes in the community. There are many ways to raise funds and I am more than happy to spend time with anyone to discuss any ideas.

I am so proud to be working with this group of ladies and am astounded at how much they have achieved and the sheer volume of work they are putting into the event, in addition to running their own lives.

LOROS is not cash rich and needs every penny that is donated. Please do not think that you can’t make a difference or donate a huge amount as it all adds up. In fact all the red towers & blue boxes you see throughout Leicestershire and Rutland that people drop their change into, add up to over £48,000.
