James Johnson is a 31 year old runner from Devon who started running in 2005. James, who has always had a passion for fitness and sport, gained a sports science degree from Cheltenham & Gloucester College of Higher Education and went on to become a personal trainer whilst maintaining a successful rugby career playing for Worcester’s development side. James had to give up the sport he loved due to a knee operation from the hard hitting contact sport, when James went on to join the Devon & Cornwall Police force, a job that also requires high fitness levels.

“After my operation I gained weight from being unable to exercise, I found running was a good way of losing weight and maintain my health and fitness.”

James was running an average of 10 miles a week when he started, now after 5 years of becoming a runner and taking part in a number of running events and marathons he runs a staggering 30-35 miles a week. We are going to follow James through his training for the London marathon in April which will be the first time he has ran in the UK’s most famous running event.
Keep up to date with James’ progress over the 14 week countdown to the London Marathon. See how he trains, what he eats and how he feels... for your comments email: runningevents@prodirectsport.com
