Asics Gel-DS Trainer 17 - White/Blue/Green
The Gel DS Trainer 17's redesigned upper brings a whole host of technological features for improved fit and performance and is the lightest in the series yet.
The shoe incorporates the ASICS' I.G.S. (Impact Guidance system), a design philosophy in which the individual components of the shoe work together to produce a more comfortable step and an improved gait. In addition, the rearfoot and forefoot GEL cushioning system places a silicone-based material in critical areas of the sole to dampen shock, allowing for a smooth movement through the step and reducing the risk of injury.
Cushioning is imperative in a shoe of this standard, and the Gel Kayano 18 is no different. It features the dynamic DuoMax Support System, a dual density midsole material positioned sport specifically to enhance support and stability, a ComforDry Sockliner insole placed inside the shoe, keeping the foot drier and cooler, and a Solyte lower midsole to absorb shock and cushion the foot; a lighter material than SpEVA and EVA, Solyte is also more durable.
The essential and clever Biomorphic Fit Upper incorporates stretchy material strategically placed on the upper, which reduces bunching when the shoes moves, reducing the risk of blisters and irritation. This works alongside the Assymetrical Lacing Design which follows the natural curve of the foot and Discrete Eyelets, where independently-placed eyelets ensure the laces pass through the upper which disburse lace tension, both of which improve fit and reduce potential for irritation.
The Heel Clutching System, a lightweight heel counter on the outside of the upper around the heel, complements the Wet Grip Rubber, a sole material made from a special blend of organic and non-organic components, in providing support and stability.
